Arbor Day with Vintage & Gerald Ford Elementary

Planting Trees: Vintage and Gerald Ford Collab
Posted on 05/17/2024
Heather Gritters Kambe, Director of Employee Engagement at Vintage Landscape, spearheaded a heartwarming initiative to benefit the students of Gerald Ford Elementary in Indian Wells, California. Vintage Landscape, a prominent local nursery and landscaping company, sought to extend a helping hand to their neighboring school and found the perfect opportunity through Arbor Day.

Upon reaching out to Mr. Preston, the esteemed principal of Gerald Ford Elementary, Kambe proposed a collaboration centered around Arbor Day festivities. The idea was met with enthusiasm from both parties, and Vintage Landscape swiftly sprang into action, generously donating two thriving trees to the school.

The gesture wasn't merely about providing trees; it symbolized a deeper commitment to community engagement and support for education. Kambe expressed her eagerness to "adopt" the school, reflecting Vintage Landscape's dedication to fostering meaningful connections within the local educational ecosystem.

The donation didn't end with the trees. Vintage Landscape went above and beyond, ensuring the successful planting of the trees by taking care of irrigation and landscaping needs. Their team's efforts resulted in the creation of much-needed shade for students during drop-off and dismissal times, enhancing the school environment and promoting a safer, more comfortable experience for all.

The trees, two majestic Ficus specimens, were ceremoniously planted on Arbor Day, Friday, April 26 2024, marking a significant moment of collaboration and community spirit. Since then, the students of Gerald Ford Elementary have been reaping the benefits of this thoughtful contribution, enjoying respite from the sun's rays under the shade provided by the newly planted trees.

Mr. Preston, known for his proactive approach to community partnerships, expressed gratitude for Vintage Landscape's generosity and emphasized the importance of such collaborations in enriching the educational experience for students.

Vintage Landscape's initiative serves as a shining example of how local businesses can make a meaningful impact on their communities by supporting education and fostering partnerships with schools. As the trees continue to grow and flourish, so too will the bonds between Vintage Landscape and Gerald Ford Elementary, nurturing a relationship built on mutual care and support for years to come.
