In a collaborative effort between our Technology, Security and Communications departments, Desert Sands Unified School District (DSUSD) invites parents and guardians to attend our Annual Parent Night: Growing Up Digital – Keeping Your Students Safe in an Online World. The event will take place on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 6:00 PM at the District Offices.
This event will highlight the district’s Connect Initiative, which promotes equity and extends learning beyond the school day by providing students with access to technology. The program fosters essential 21st-century skills—creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking—while supporting students in their journey toward college, career, and life readiness.
The event will cover several important topics, including the impact of technology on learning and strategies for ensuring student safety and internet security. Attendees will also learn about DSUSD’s Responsible Use Policy, which outlines expectations for appropriate technology use. Discussions will highlight the role of classroom technology and the district’s at-home filtering system.
In addition, the event will explore the importance of digital citizenship through the “Growing Up Digital” forums and offer practical internet safety tips along with helpful parent resources. Through the Connect Initiative, DSUSD aims to empower students with anytime, anywhere learning opportunities while encouraging responsible technology use. This event provides families with valuable insights to help their students navigate the challenges of today’s digital world.
