The 2023 graduations were a series of wonderful celebrations for our seniors. Indio High School Derrick Lawson eloquently spoke at the June 6 school board meeting to thank the entire team who helps make them so successful.
Lawson shared:
On behalf of all six high school principals, I am here to offer a public expression of appreciation and recognition for the various departments that go above and beyond to help with graduation.
As Security Manager Ryan Chandler said in our security briefing "Remember that this is the proudest moment our parents and students have had so far, let's do everything in our power to make sure they know we are also proud of their accomplishments."
Our Departments have done that very thing and sometimes our public does not see those behind the scenes monumental efforts.
Security:
- I had zero issues and amazing security support- even a waiting list of agents signing up over what I requested. Each principal stated that our security team was proactive, cordial, and firm in enforcing policies with great customer support. Our students and parents enjoyed great, safe ceremonies.
Grounds, M & O:
- Over and above time for field prep and, in some cases, some extra TLC touch up painting.
- Some DG work
- Providing back up generator, sound, lights, and more
- One team member even offered me options for technology enhancement and told me that I could let him know right up to one hour before the ceremony.
TECH TEAM:
- Extra personnel, and equipment to ensure livestreaming and added sound support for the choirs and bands performing.
- Setting up early, running checks, make useful suggestions and adjusting on the fly to ensure our ceremony and tech systems were without a hitch.
Graphics
- Model of flexibility, accurate, and supreme customer service
- Reprints and overprints for last minute additions, changes, increases
Fiscal and Purchasing:
- Assisted with Purchase order changes since some of our vendors no longer take PO's and we needed to feed the security team and the reception prior to ceremony.
Nutrition Services Team:
- Provided set up and support for dignitaries and staff working the event
Really a team effort where everyone understands the importance of this.
