Congratulations to nine Knights who were recently awarded scholarships totaling $7500 from the Indio Rotary Club. Each student attending a four year college received $1000 and each COD student received $500.
Nicole Piscatella who graduated eight in her class of 418 students, plans on becoming a nurse. She will be attending College of the Desert and then transferring to UC Irvine where she will major in psychology. Nicole managed all Interact Club publicity during the 2022-2023 school year.
Aly Godinez’s career path will take her to Cal State University San Bernardino. Her initial goal is to become an elementary school teacher and, eventually, a professor of the Spanish language. She graduate from Shadow Hills with a 3.78 GPA, in the top 100 of her class. Aly is an accomplished artist and won a Riverside County-wide art contest in 9th grade creating a portrait of an owl using a pen and dots.
Sonya Fernandez served as co-president of the Interact Club during her senior year. She attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy in her junior year. She will be attending Mount St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles to study child development.
Jocefa Cruz-Berdejo is head to UC Irvine to earn both a BS and MS in social work. Jocefa served in the SHHS color guard throughout high school while maintaining a 4.07 GPA and assisting freshmen to acclimate to high school as part of Link Crew.
Alejandro Olivares was a student leader in the marching band for all four years and plays two musical instruments. Graduating sixth in his class, he is heading to either UC Berkeley or UC Irvine to major in computer science.
Jennifer Aguirre will be the first in her family to attend college. Graduating from SHHS in the top 100 of her class of 418, she will be studying psychology and marketing at College of the Desert.
Allison Morden is an AP Scholar who graduated third in the SHHS Class of 2023. She was selected to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy in her sophomore year. Allison will be attending UCLA as she works toward a degree health sciences.
David Palmer graduated 19th in his class with a 4.41 GPA. He will be attending UC Riverside to study computer programming while continuing has passion for sculpture.
Diana Rojano-Garcia graduated first in her class with a 4.75 GPA She is an AP scholar and will begin her college career at College of the Desert to study software engineering. Diana served as Interact club treasurer her senior year.
