
Sky-High Success Drone Fest Champions
DSUSD Drone Teams Soar to International Victories!
DSUSD students took competition to new heights at the Palm Springs Drone Fest on Saturday, May 2, and the results were nothing short of amazing!
Hosted by FIDA USA and Palm Springs Unified School District, this global event featured teams from around the world, including Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Korea, China, Canada, Mexico, and across the United States.
DSUSD proudly sent four teams to compete, two from Thomas Jefferson Middle School, one from Palm Desert High School, and one from La Quinta High School and they delivered outstanding performances:
Thomas Jefferson Middle School – 1st Place

La Quinta High School – 1st Place
(High School Division)
Palm Desert High School – 2nd Place
(High School Division)
With 13 middle school teams and 7 high school teams in the competition, the level of talent was impressive and Desert Sands students rose to the top!
DSUSD High School Technology Project Facilitator, Cyndi Furr, shared, "I am very proud of the teamwork, skill, and effort put forth by our students. They encouraged each other, cheered one another on, and played hard. The final match between PD and LQ was a tight one."
