Amistad High School's Samantha Gomez was named a Region 10 California League of Education finalist for Teacher of the Year. Principal Richard Pimentel nominated her for this award and describes her as a passionate and dedicated educator, with outstanding contributions to alternative education.

As an English teacher and ASB advisor, she fosters leadership, and academic success. From creating the Academic Success Academy to championing student voices through the GSA and Junior/Senior Club, Samantha’s impact is profound. She goes above and beyond to ensure every student feels seen, heard, and inspired.

Scott McKee

Amistad High School’s Scott McKee has been selected as a History Social Science Educator of Excellence for 2024-2025, by the Inland Empire Council for Social Studies (IECSS). Scott was nominated by Principal Richard Pimentel, and his outstanding work was recently celebrated at an annual awards program, sponsored by the Riverside County Office of Education and the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools. Mr. Pimentel describes Scott as a dedicated Social Studies teacher, with an outstanding commitment to civic education.

With nearly 20 years of service, he has inspired countless students to engage in democracy, understand their role in government, and actively participate in civic life. From organizing mock elections to connecting students with veterans, his passion for history and citizenship leaves a lasting impact. His dedication to fostering informed, responsible citizens truly embodies the spirit of this recognition.
