On March 13, the Court of Appeal for the Fourth Appellate District, Division Two hosted an exciting outreach session at Shadow Hills High School for 400 students! The event began with a reception where justices met with student leaders, and local officials like Indio City Council Member Ben Guitron, Superintendent Dr. Kelly May-Vollmar and DSUSD Board Trustees Watson, Pearce, and Porras.
Students then watched TWO real oral argument sessions in the performing arts center, followed by Q&A with the justices. The cases, People v. R.G. and People v. Probus, focused on serious legal issues, giving students a rare peek into the justice system.
For over two decades, the court has been connecting with Coachella Valley schools to inspire students and highlight careers in law. It was a memorable, educational day that will stick with the students for years to come!
