Students Step In to Serve the Community
The City of Palm Desert partnered with the McCallum Theatre to host a large USO-style celebration on Monday, November 10, honoring veterans from across the Coachella Valley. The event brought together community members, leaders, and performers for a spirited tribute to those who have served.
In the days leading up to the celebration, the City faced an unexpected challenge: the scheduled military color guard was unable to participate due to the government shutdown. Seeking a meaningful solution, organizers reached out to DSUSD, creating an opportunity for students to take part in this important tradition.
ROTC and JROTC Cadet teams from Palm Desert High School and Palm Desert Charter Middle School proudly presented the flags during the ceremony, offering a dignified and memorable start to the event.
