DSLA Cohort 4 Graduation Ceremony

Congratulations to the newest DSLA graduates in DSUSD!

Twenty leaders from across the district have completed a rigorous learning journey grounded in reflection, collaboration, and systems thinking, all in service of creating the conditions where every student can thrive.

Desert Sands Leadership Academy (DSLA) uses NCEE's leadership development program, National Institute for School & System Leadership (NISL), to equip participants with the skills, strategies, and vision to drive meaningful and sustainable change.

From NCEE (National Center on Education and the Economy):

"We’re continually inspired by the dedication of leaders like these, who commit to their own growth so they can strengthen their schools, their teams, and their communities."

From NISL Facilitator Addonica Stanley, Ed.D.:

leadership academy group"What a joy and an honor to celebrate Cohort 4 of the Desert Sands Leadership Academy as they completed the NISL: National Institute for School Leadership Experience.

This cohort represents a powerful cross-section of leadership across the system — classroom teachers, administrative assistants, instructional coaches, vice principals, principals, psychologists, behavior specialists, directors, and Asst. superintendent. Each bringing their lived experience, commitment, and deep care for students and community.

leadership academy groupOver the past 12 months, we engaged in sustained, in-person learning focused on system design, equity-centered leadership, and continuous improvement. Together, we wrestled with the real work: looking inward, looking outward, and looking forward to shape what students experience every day. Through inquiry, dialogue, practice, and action learning inquiry cycles, these leaders consistently showed what it means to lead from the seat they’re in while being prepared for the seats ahead.

Their collaboration is what transformation looks like. Their courage is what progress feels like. Their vision is what every child in Desert Sands deserves.

Dr. Addonica StanleyI am deeply proud and grateful to have walked alongside them in this journey and I am especially touched to now be an honorary member of the DSUSD family, swag and all."
