Oh, the Reading You’ll Do!
DSUSD Families Celebrate Literacy Night
On March 5, the halls of DEC North came alive with books, laughter, and wide-eyed curiosity as Desert Sands Unified families gathered for Early Childhood Education Literacy Night in celebration of Read Across America Week.
Students and their families explored a variety of hands-on literacy activities, hopping from station to station while discovering the joy and power of reading together. The evening was filled with smiles and storytelling as families were reminded that reading can happen anywhere….on the couch, at the kitchen table, or during a cozy bedtime routine.
Even just 15 minutes of reading a day can help young learners build strong literacy skills and a lifelong love of books.
A special thank you goes to Principal Gabriela Llamas and the ECE team for hosting such a joyful and meaningful event that brought families together to celebrate reading and the important role it plays at home and at school.
Because when families read together, great readers grow—one page, one story, one day at a time.
