Nineteen DSUSD Schools Earn State Award
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an ongoing focus in Desert Sands, as we work to systemically enhance school culture and climate, improving both behavioral and academic outcomes. Dedication and commitment to the students, families, and communities of your respective schools is a major contributing factor to the excellence in education in Desert Sands.
The California PBIS recognition system acknowledges schools for implementing PBIS with fidelity to the national framework. NINETEEN schools in DSUSD applied for various awards, and received recognition. Two schools received the highest honors through the California PBIS recognition system for their excellence in all tiers within PBIS and will be receiving platinum awards.
Schools completed an in depth, evidence-based application process, including a site validation visit to verify the fidelity of implementation across their system. The acknowledgement awarded reflects the excellence in the implementation of the core features of PBIS. Director of Professional Development & Teacher Support Elizabeth Hartman and Riverside County Office of Education representatives presented banners and certificates to our schools at a recent board meeting.
