A new symbol of hope officially took root in La Quinta on November 19. La Quinta High School proudly unveiled the first and only Rotary Peace Pole in the Coachella Valley, a milestone moment for the entire community.
The celebration was hosted by the dedicated students of the LQHS Interact Club, led by advisor Frank Ceja, in partnership with the La Quinta Rotary Club, bringing this meaningful symbol of unity to campus.
Their shared mission: to spark conversations, inspire kindness, and remind us that even in challenging times, peace begins with each of us.
Guests gathered to witness this joyful and historic unveiling as LQHS planted a message of hope for the future. With the addition of the Peace Pole, the school and Rotary kicked off a movement rooted in compassion, connection, and brighter days ahead.
Mr. Ceja says, “The Rotary Peace Pole is a monument and universal symbol of the hopes and dreams for global peace. "May Peace Prevail on Earth." This message is inscribed on each of its sides in different languages, affirming a shared global wish for peace. The four languages on our pole are the most prevalent languages at La Quinta HS, English, Spanish, Vietnamese and Arabic. As an International Baccalaureate High School the Interact students felt a Peace Pole on our campus would have so much more meaning.”
