Thomas Jefferson Middle School is beaming with pride over the incredible achievements of three exceptional eighth-grade students…Valeria Camarillo, Abril Sanchez, and Letzi Alvarado, who took part in the prestigious Tech Trek STEM Camp, this past summer.
Hosted at universities such as Whittier College, UC Santa Barbara, and the University of San Diego, Tech Trek is a weeklong residential program that immerses students in hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Campers participate in interactive sessions exploring topics like Physics, Anatomy, and Chemistry, guided by credentialed teachers and professional women in STEM careers.
TJMS has proudly participated in this selective program for over 15 years, with seventh-grade girls applying and interviewing, after being nominated by their teachers. Sponsored by the American Association of University Women (AAUW), Tech Trek is designed to ignite inspiration, excitement, and confidence in young women ready to take the next step in their educational journeys.
Congratulations to Valeria, Abril, and Letzi—our amazing Tech Trekkers and future scientists, innovators, and leaders!
