Desert Sands Weather Monitoring

DSUSD is pleased to announce the installation of Perry Weather on-site weather stations at each of our comprehensive high schools. This new system provides real-time monitoring of weather conditions (temperature, humidity, air quality, and even lightning) to help enhance safety and operational efficiency at our sites.

Perry Weather stations are designed to monitor conditions in real time and can trigger custom alerts to email and mobile devices. The system also has the capability to send automatic "all-clear" notifications, allowing athletic teams/school sites to return to normal operations safely and smoothly.

Weather monitoring in DSUSD is based on school site/department locations by regions listed below.

Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) is a measure of heat stress that accounts for air temperature, humidity, radiant heat from the sun, and air movement to assess the safety of working or exercising in hot environments.

For WBGT readings, please refer to this chart (DSUSD is located in Category 3).
