John Glenn Middle School held this year’s Middle School Math Field Day on Saturday, April 20, 2024. Students from middle schools across the Coachella Valley were invited to participate in this event sponsored by the Rotary Club of Indio.
The day consists of fun math challenges and activities for the teams to compete in. The goal of this event is for the students to showcase their math skills and engage with other students from different schools.

At this 27th annual event these individual students won Most Outstanding at the
event: Tolu Ajumobi, 8th grader from Palm Desert Charter Middle School, John
Michael Pedalino, 7th grader from Palm Desert Charter Middle School, and Mateo
DeLeon, 6th grader from Peter Pendleton Elementary School (CVUSD). Second Best
Mathematician titles were given to Janelle Gapus, 8th grader from John Glenn
Middle, Bryce Richardson, 7th grader from John Glenn Middle School and Juan
Macias, 6th grader with Peter Pendleton Elementary School (CVUSD).
All three school districts of the Coachella Valley attended the event. John Glenn
Middle School won the school trophies
for 8th and 7th grade. Peter Pendleton Elementary school with Coachella Valley
Unified School District won the trophy for 6th grade. Of the 11 schools that
attended the event, John Glenn Middle School students won most events and
games for a total of 25 individual trophies.
Dr. Arthur T. Benjamin of Harvey Mudd College dazzled the students with the
instantaneous speed capacity of his numbers’ memory and manipulation.
The 28th Rotary Math Field Day is set for Saturday, May 3, 2025 at John Glenn
Middle School in Indio.
