Description of SAP Services

Individual and
Family Support

For students who have received psychoeducational counseling group support and continue to struggle with social-emotional and behavioral concerns. A warm handoff to outside agencies may be provided.

Alcohol or other drugs

Students and families meet with SAP staff individually to develop an action plan to build better choices and direction in their lives.  Students participate in the Insight Education Program and parents are informed if a referral to a formal assessment and/or drug testing available in the community is appropriate.
Insight educational groups are designed to offer support for substance misuse, conflict education, self-regulation intervention, interpersonal skills, and support for positive changes. 

Tobacco Prevention, Intervention, Cessation Referrals

Helps students become aware of problems associated with tobacco and/or how to quit using tobacco. Referrals to cessation programs are available for youth and adults.

Teen Pregnancy             

SAP may provide support for pregnant teens and parenting teens to graduate from high school or its equivalent.

Foster/Homeless Liaison              Provides support and resources to foster and homeless youth in Desert Sands Unified School District.  Homeless Education Program
Adult Education              SAP assists in connecting and transitioning to adult education programs including: ESL, Hi-Set, High School Diploma. To refer/consult with a Counselor, please complete the  Adult Referral Form.
