Here are some highlights from the 1st ever DSUSD SPEECH CAMP!
The primary goals for speech camp are to facilitate increased speech and language opportunities, provide opportunities for students to engage with peers and adults in structured and unstructured settings, build confidence, and to have fun!
Over the course of 4 one week camps, DSUSD was able to provide communication opportunities for students with all levels of communication challenges. The camp activities were developed and facilitated by DSUSD Speech Language Pathologists. Each day was filled with a variety of fun activities targeting specific speech and language skills. The students were having so much fun they had no idea they were actually working! In addition, at the end of each day, the students were provided with follow up activities to share with parents/family to provide opportunities at home to practice skills from camp.
The DSUSD Speech Language Pathologists would like to thank the DSUSD School Board, Cabinet and SPED administration for this opportunity. We would also like to especially thank Dr. Charity Plaxton-Hennings and Bradley Zambanini for their support and leadership; along with Claudia Montiel for all the hard work reaching out to parents and keeping us organized.
Below you will find a quick video of the students at camp.
