On February 2, 2023 the 18th annual Academic WorldQuest competition was held at CSUSB Palm Desert Campus. The Academic WorldQuest is a team game that challenges the knowledge of world affairs. Eight Coachella Valley high schools competed, and it was DSUSD’s very own Palm Desert High School that took home first place. The team consisted of Tara Bakhshi Dezfuli, Evan Lindemann, Shafaa Munjal, Ian Randolph and Coach Patricia Lizza.
Students in the top three teams were each awarded scholarships: first place received $300; second place, $200; and third place, $100. Shadow Hills HS, who won the most improved award, won $75 each. Other competing high schools included Xavier Prep (2nd place), Rancho Mirage HS (3rd place), Shadow Hills HS (most improved), Coachella Valley HS, Desert Hot Springs HS, Indio HS, and La Quinta HS.
A big congratulations to PDHS and all other schools who competed! For more information about the Academic WorldQuest, visit the World Affairs Council of the Desert website here.
