Board introductions made at the March 7, Board of Education meeting:

Ryan Chandler, Security Manager
Ryan holds an Emergency Medical Technician/Pre-Hospital Care certificate from UCLA having maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout that training and is currently working on his Associate of Science degree in Business Administration through College of the Desert. He has 20 years of law enforcement and security experience and has earned a number of different certifications in safety and security. Ryan has provided personal protection details for high-profile clients, from organizing/managing security for various large-scale events in southern California. Here at Desert Sands, he has been used as an instructor to train staff, assist with planning major events, and apply his knowledge and training to contribute to the overall safety of students and staff. Ryan enjoys running, hiking, and spending time with his family. He would like to acknowledge his wife, Allegra, and his son, Jonathan. Ryan looks forward to supporting the security department and the District in his new role.

Alexander Cook, Chef Manager
Alexander earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Restaurant Management from the International Culinary School at the Art Institute. He is a classically trained chef that has worked in many restaurants in and around the Los Angeles area for over a decade. Alexander comes to Desert Sands from El Camino College where he served as the Executive Chef, a position he states was the most rewarding experience of his career to date because it allowed him to serve the next generation. Alexander enjoys working on automobiles, traveling, trying new cuisine, and spending time with his wife and kids. He would like to acknowledge his wife Amanda, as well as his children Nolan, and Kelsey. He is very excited to come aboard and serve the local community. And is bringing the same vigor he had in his previous role with him to Desert Sands!
