Our students excelled at the May 20 DSUSD eSports championship. The competition was held in the District Education Center North and thirty nine students from six schools participated. Competing schools included Amistad, La Quinta, and Shadow Hills high schools as well as Desert Ridge, Indio, and La Quinta middle schools.
Congratulations to all of the competitors and a special shout-out to Fernando “AirFighter” Alvarenga from La Quinta High School, named the DSUSD eSports High School Champion for 2023, and middle school champion Kevin Davila from Indio Middle School. The two competitors went on to a head-to-head Mario Smash Brothers match with AirFighter achieving victory.
Our LQHS Blackhawks took the DSUSD eSports Cup!
Special thanks to all who attended as they cheered on each student as they spent four hours in head-to-head double elimination rounds.
Thanks to Tiffany Norton, Chief Innovation and Information Officer, and Kevin Bibo, Director of College and Career Readiness for spearheading the introduction of eSports to our campuses.
