The middle school athletic programs in Desert Sands Unified School District is an integral part of the educational process. Athletics offer a positive and meaningful experience that will enhance the growth and development of all young men and women who participate.
The Desert Sands Middle School Athletic program is made up of six sports programs open to all sixth, seventh and eighth grade students. (football, volleyball, boys and girls basketball, soccer, softball, and track.)
Athletics have a vital place in the total educational program when they are effectively planned, organized, administered, supervised, and evaluated. Through school athletics, many of the interests and needs of young people can be served better than through any other channel.
All athletes are required to meet academic requirements throughout the sports season by maintaining a 2.0 GPA. If an athlete does not meet those academic requirements, he/she will not participate in the intramural sports program.
