The award-winning communications department is tasked with sharing the news about our schools, students, and staff members. In addition to our website, we communicate with the DSUSD family in a number of ways.
- Social Media - including Facebook and Instagram
- Peachjar flyers - emailed to our families and available on the district and school websites
- SchoolMessenger - our messaging system that sends out notices via text, email, and phone calls
- Press Releases - sent out to local media detailing the amazing things that happen in our district
- Articles - submitted to The Desert Sun, the online Uken Report, and the City of La Quinta's Gem
- Videos - including the Front & Center series and other opportunities to showcase the district
- Media Interviews - serving as the spokesperson for DSUSD
- Special Promotions - including organizing and promoting events such as Koffee with Kelly
- Branding - in addition to overseeing the recent development and introduction of our new brand (including the logo), we are part of the brand review committee ensuring that the visual elements of our brand represent the district
- Emergency Preparedness - serving as the spokesperson in time of crisis and sharing the latest information
The DSUSD communications department is a branch of the superintendent's office and includes Public Information Officer Tamara Wadkins and Communications Specialist Jan Diaz. They are assisted by Executive Specialist Adriana Fernandez and Office Specialist Miriam Silva, with video production by Shaun Encinias, information technology specialist.
