DSUSD has had an amazing round of students compete at the state level in wrestling competitions throughout the 2023-2024 school year. There were multiple accomplishments made by both the boys and girls wrestling teams. We congratulate Miguel Saldana from Indio High for finishing tenth in the boys’ wrestling competition. Shadow Hills High School recognized the placing athletes with honors for their performance. The students were: Alisa Murillo placing in the top 24, Kaylin Montano placing 7th, and from the boys’ wrestling team Felicito Nunez placed in the top 24 in California.

Palm Desert High School’s boy’s wrestling team placed seventh. Six of their wrestlers placed individually in the competition taking home some of the top prizes. Congratulations to Brock Mantanona 1st place, Andrew Barbosa 2nd place, David Alonso 3rd place, Diego Costa 4th place, and Diego Morales 7th place. We also would like to congratulate Chloe Overgaag who placed 5th in the girl’s competition for PDHS.

Shadow Hills wrestler Kaylin Montano has received great recognition as she is the schools first male or female wrestler who has placed at the state level. Coach Jody Davis mentions Kaylin worked hard after all her past achievements as she wrestled all four years. As she is on her way out of high school, her and her teammate Felicito expressed their excitement for their senior activities and future plans in athletics.
