Natasha Gamboa takes first place with the Palm Desert Rotary Club at the Rotary District 5330 contest as she wowed the judges with her speech titled, "Eight Minutes." Savannah Vela from SHHS took eighth place at the Beaumont contest.
Natasha earns the honor of being the featured speaker at the Rotary District 5330 Ignite Hope Luncheon to be held in Riverside.
PDHS held their Rotary Four-Way Test Speech Contest on February 13, 2024 where the students were able to present their speech after working for a long seven weeks. They spent their lunches receiving coaching and attending Zoom meetings with members from the Palm Desert Rotary Club. A special thanks to Juli Corral and April Rubio who helped get the program started and the teachers who promoted the program to their students.
The top three winners will present their speeches at the Rotary Club of Palm Desert meeting on February 27. 2024. The first place winner received the opportunity to compete at the district-level Rotary competition in Beaumont. The program will continue next year and they are looking forward to the students who are interested in improving or showcasing their speech skills.
Congratulations to the winners and those who participated!
