 On November 6th, 2023, the multi-purpose room at Jackson Elementary welcomed students, parents, staff and administrators for the Dual Language Immersion Students Recognition. Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Marcus Wood, honored Jackson Elementary students with a certificate celebrating their fifth year in the DLI program. During the celebration, Dr. Wood ate and conversed with parents and students discussing the importance of pursuing their education.

 

Highlights for October/ November also stated Educators
from Regan and Jackson Elementary were honored by Dr. Marcus Wood, Dr. Angela Randolph, and Nancy Velador for their outstanding work and dedication to the DLI Program. Ms. Velador states "teachers have a multifaceted role, aiming to foster Bilingual Proficiency by building students' proficiency in both target languages. They also strive for Academic Achievement by teaching various subject in both languages, including math, science, social studies, and language arts".

The Dual Language Immersion Program's key goal is biliteracy in students. "Teachers cultivate Respect for Diversity and offer Individualized Support to address varying language proficiencies, while Assessment and Evaluation ensure student's progress" said Ms. Velador.
