The Oliphant Owls raise money for the Desi Strong Foundation in honor of September's Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The elementary ran a school competition "penny war" between September 25th- 29th. "We also reached out and partnered with the Coachella Valley Firebirds. They agreed to match 100% of what the students were able to raise" stated Principal Hisgen.
The Oliphant Elementary community was able to raise $3, 061.11 in one week. The Coachella Valley Firebirds organization matched the earnings which made it out to be $6,122.22 for the Desi Strong Foundation.
On November 17th, The OWLS student body attended the check presentation. The Desi Strong Foundation and Terry, (Desi's Father) were presented the check by Principal Hisgen.
