When the Palm Springs International Film Festival was in town the return of student screening days were presented, thanks to the many sponsors in the Coachella Valley. Over 1,000 students were brought from all over the valley to participate in these viewings at local locations such as Palm Springs High School and Indio High School. This opportunity opens many paths for students as for some after attending the student screenings come to realize they have a passion in film or in the arts.
These students are then introduced to internships, volunteer opportunities, and overall connections that proceed attending the student screening day. The films that were chosen catered to the students' ideas of what awaits them after graduation and the goals they have for themselves. Many students enjoyed and participated in the Q&A from directors and actors of the films. A senior at Indio High, Shaurri McLeod, related to one of the films stating, “It opened up my eyes to what we can accomplish if we really pursue our passions.”
