Shoutout to two SHHS track and field athletes! Marjourie Lopez and Michael DeTamble.

Marjourie qualified for the New Balance Indoor Nationals in Boston a few weeks ago. She competed in the two-mile event and her time placed her 11th overall out of 112 national qualifiers. This was the 2nd fastest in California and 20th in the nation. Marjourie also runs cross country and this past season placed third at CIF Finals and ninth in the state. Marjourie is not shy when it comes to breaking records. She entered this track season breaking the school record in the 1600 meter, then went on to break her own record in the 3200 meter. She not only excels on the track, but in the classroom as well. She is a 4.0+ student-athlete, and is being recruited by Cal, USC, Fullerton, and UCR to name a few. 

Michael DeTamble is the first SHHS CIF individual champion in the 300 meter hurdles. But that’s not all, he’s also a three-time CIF medalist, a state finalist in two events, a two-time Desert Sun athlete of the year and holds two school records. Michael has an amazing 4.2 GPA and just recently committed to run at Cal Poly Humboldt with a track scholarship.
